Have you heard? Illinois is the new Alaska. Thanks to several polar vortexes and the extinction of above-freezing weather, taking any outfit photos has been out of the question for the past two months.
Being cooped in inside has given me a lot of time to make my spring wish list. If this weather keeps up I may never wear another dress or pair of sandals again, but hey, a girl can dream.
Right now I’m stocking up on these J.Crew Factory flats. I got them in blush and they go with everything. They’re also so comfy I feel like I’m wearing slippers. This bold, striped dress by Pim + Larkin is the newest addition to my closet. The stretchy material feels like a t-shirt, which makes it great if you’re going to be wearing it at work all day.

Since it’s WAY to cold outside to take outfit photos, (we’re talking below zero with the wind chill) I thought I’d serve up another holiday wish list/gift guide of sorts for those of you who are bundled up inside doing some online shopping.

I’ve already put together a few of my favorite holiday outfits, so now it’s time to talk accessories. Cute clutches with bows, anything monogrammed or a picture frame make great gifts, especially if you’re stumped on what to get your co-workers.
Shoes are my favorite gift to get. After spotting these bow heels on Blair, I’ve been obsessed. I’d also settle for these Kate Spade earrings in the shape of my favorite shoes.
My wish list multiplied by 100 when J.Crew and Madewell released their gift guides this week. I found myself asking questions like how many wool socks do I really need and how many plaid scarves is too many? Answer—when you live in the Chicago area, you can never have enough of either of those things.
Which is what inspired this post of cozy clothing and accessories. You will live in these pieces all winter long and look darn cute despite the temperature being below freezing.

When I think of winter outfits, I envision being wrapped up in cozy cable knits, fair isle and lots of plaid. You can’t go wrong with any of these timeless prints during the holidays. And I’m always game for adding another lobster sweater to my collection. Is that not the cutest print you’ve ever laid eyes on?

I’m usually so good about waiting to buy something until it’s on sale or I have a discount code. Well, I just couldn’t wait with these booties. You may remember them from this post a few weeks ago.
They are even comfy enough to wear on my 15 minute walk to the office. I usually wear them with jeans, but I also love how the rich brown color looks with my fatigue green jeans from J.Crew and a gray sweater.
P.S. The Nordstrom site says the booties run small and to order a half size up. I’m a size 9 and the nine’s fit me perfectly fine so you should be good with ordering your regular size.

A vest is my solution for those what do I wear when it’s 30 degrees in the morning and 50 degrees in the afternoon days. I loved the bright red color of this Gap one, so I waited until they had one of their 35% off codes (which is almost all the time) and pulled the trigger.
Paired with skinny jeans and my favorite cozy Toms booties, it’s a perfect outfit for a brisk fall day. I always find it refreshing to wear bright colors in fall and winter. My walk to the office everyday is filled with people wearing navy and black, so I like that I can add a little pop of color to the concrete jungle!
