If you’re in the market for a pair of suede booties there’s no time like the present. The only problem is that with so many identical pairs how are you supposed to choose? Here’s how to narrow down your choices.
Do you want the suede to be real?
Go with Michael Kors, J. Crew or Madewell. Keep in mind that suede is extremely difficult to clean. I know from first hand experience. I was unlucky enough to have a mysterious ink stain appear on a pair of my suede booties, but don’t worry they’re ok now.
It might be smarter to go with the Old Navy or Payless pair, especially if you plan on wearing them throughout the winter. I shudder at the thought of having to clean salt and slush off of $300 booties.
How long are you going to keep them?
If you want them to last for years, it’s better to invest in a quality pair. You’ll be spending more cash, but you’ll get your money’s worth in the long run.
Where are you going to wear them?
If it’s just to the office and back or for casual weekends out, you should be safe with real suede ones. If you’re a college student who plans on patronizing your local watering holes, don’t even think about getting that J. Crew pair.
